About

Built by hikers, checked by guides

Dare to Hike started in a Thamel tea shop in 2021 when two guides and a software engineer couldn't find a single reliable planning tool for Nepali trails.

Our story

The trail data problem

How we work

The Dare to Hike standard

  1. Walk every trail

Our trail team re-walks routes annually and logs conditions, water and teahouses.

  2. Verify every claim

Distances, times and permits are checked against field logs and official sources.

  3. Rate honestly

Difficulty ratings come from local hikers' logs, not marketing copy.

  4. Keep it free at the core

Trail library and basic plans stay free — that's the mission.
